Board to vote on leading candidate for Oakmont principal vacancy

Interim Superintendent Gloria Johnston stated at the July 28th board meeting that a special meeting would be held when a leading candidate was chosen. That day is Wednesday.

The Claremont Unified School District Board of Education cast its vote on the leading candidate for the principal position at Oakmont Outdoor School during a special board meeting at 4:30 p.m. in the Richard S. Kirkendall Education Center. The district had not announced as of Monday if the candidate will be in attendance at the meeting.

If the board appoints the candidate, it will end a nearly one month search that began when former Oakmont Principal Adriana Garrett submitted her resignation to the district on July 1st. She is returning to the Chino Valley Unified School District, where she formerly served as principal of Anna Borba Elementary School.

Interviews for the Oakmont position were conducted over the past 2 weeks after the job had been posted on EdJoin.org. According to Human Resources Director Kevin Ward, the district received a strong response by applicants for the position and went with 4 to 5 finalists for the interview process.
