The Claremont Unified School District Board of Education announced this week it intends to rehire Jim Elsasser as superintendant of Claremont’s public schools. Last month the board said it was not renewing its contract with Superintendant Jeff Wilson and was seeking a replacement. Elsasser left his CUSD job on January 1, 2021 to lead the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District. If approved, his first day back in Claremont would be July 1. Chloe Haskin has found her calling. After completing her associate degree in nursing this June, the 28-year-old Citrus College student will transfer to Azusa Pacific University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in the same field. Her ultimate goal is to earn a master’s degree and become a family nurse practitioner. “I believe I will be able to make a true difference in people’s lives,” she says.

The Claremont Forum library receives upwards of 300 letters weekly from inmates around the nation requesting books from the donation-based nonprofit, according to data recently compiled by Forum board member Rachel McDonnell.
