At 2:22 p.m. a woman in the 600 block of Bonita Avenue called the Claremont Police Department to report that she was blind and had bumped into an unknown man inside her apartment. The victim said she pushed the man out her front door before calling police … Officers responded to Towne Avenue at Foothill Boulevard at 2:34 a.m. after a license plate reader camera identified a stolen car. Police located the vehicle a short distance away, however, the driver, aptly named Glendale Delacruz, 26, of Glendale, allegedly drove away at a high rate of speed. Police gave pursuit, which ended on the 57 Freeway at the 210 interchange when Delacruz’s car ran out of gas. He then fled on foot but was arrested a short time later …
The community is invited to a 7 p.m. candlelight service on Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24, at St. Luke Lutheran Church for an evening of celebration, worship, fellowship, and music. St. Luke, which has served Claremont and the surrounding communities for more than 50 years, is at 2050 N. Indian Hill Blvd., at the corner of Base Line Road and Indian Hill.

The city got its budget priorities ball rolling this week with the first in a series of meetings aimed at narrowing down what residents think are the top issues and opportunities facing Claremont. To kick off the process, the city is soliciting input through a survey allowing anyone to share their opinion about which projects it should tackle and which programs deserve further investment. The survey closes December 15.
he California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control has awarded $48,575 to Claremont and Upland police departments to “reduce alcohol-related harm in their communities,” according to a news release from the Claremont police. The grant is one of 50 issued by the agency as part of its Alcohol Policing Partnership program.
