This weekend, the seven Claremont Colleges will be holding their spring commencement ceremonies for the class of 2022. The various commencements will feature hundreds of graduating students, as well as many distinguished speakers. Here’s the latest information.

Oakmont Elementary School kindergarten teacher Lorrie Brown was named Claremont Unified School District’s teacher of the year at a playfully surreptitious ceremony last week during the school board meeting.

The total cash value of outgoing Claremont Unified School District Superintendent Jeff Wilson’s severance package will very likely exceed $300,000. The separation agreement includes a guaranteed cash settlement of $296,818, representing 12 months of salary, up to a year of health benefits worth up to $8,050, and a cash out of unused vacation time after Wilson’s final day on July 1.

Despite numerous public comments decrying a perceived lack of transparency, the Claremont Unified School District Board of Directors voted 5-0 Thursday to re-hire the single candidate it entertained for the job of superintendent, Jim Elsasser, at $335,000 per year plus a generous benefit package. Chloe Haskin has found her calling. After completing her associate degree in nursing this June, the 28-year-old Citrus College student will transfer to Azusa Pacific University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in the same field.
