Sofia Dartnell is the one in her friend group who halts everyone during a trip to educate them about, and then photograph, whatever bug has caught her attention. The 23-year-old Pomona College senior loves the outdoors and knows her insects.
Early in the 20th century, before regular radio broadcasts, many people learned to play instruments so they could enjoy music at home. Not surprisingly, during this era sheet music was plentiful and popular tunes would sell in the millions of copies.

City holiday closures: beginning Friday, December 24, Claremont City Hall, the Alexander Hughes Community Center, the city yard and the Joslyn Center will all be closed throughout the holidays and will not reopen until Monday, January 3.
