It’s Little League All-Star tournament time

12-year-old All-Stars no-hit San Dimas in postseason opener
Claremont Little League 12-year-old All-Stars began their postseason in emphatic fashion Monday with a 17-0 combined no-hit win over San Dimas at College Park in Claremont.
San Dimas was simply overwhelmed from the start by Claremont’s timely hitting and hard, near unhittable pitching. The 12s took a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. The team’s next game against Pomona American took place after press time Thursday.
Summer arrived last week, and with it Claremont Little League All-Star baseball, with teams of 8 through 14 year olds vying to advance through the District 20 tournament.
8-year-olds
Claremont Little League’s youngest All-Stars begin their District 20 campaign at 5 p.m. Tuesday against Glendora American at Goddard Middle School, 859 Sierra Madre Ave., Glendora.
9-year-olds
The 9-year-olds face Glendora American at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 28 at Marchant Park, 425 Juanita Ave., San Dimas. The winner will play San Dimas at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 1. The loser will play a TBD opponent at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 2.
10-year-olds (1-1)
The 10s lost to hosts La Verne, 16-7, on June 21 at Pelota Park, 1505 Holly Oak St., La Verne. The team bounced back Monday, thrashing Glendora National 17-3. Claremont will play the victor of the June 24 Glendora American vs. La Verne game at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

11-year-olds
The 11-year-olds play La Verne at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 27 at George Manhooshian Park, 589 Sierra Madre Ave., Glendora.
12-year-olds (1-0)
Vying for a trip to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the 12s began their bid in style Monday with a 17-0 demolition of San Dimas at College Park, 100 S. College Ave., Claremont. The team plays Pomona American on Tuesday. The winner of that game plays the winner of the June 26 Glendora American vs. Glendora National contest at 6:45 p.m. Monday, June 30. The loser of Tuesday’s matchup with Pomona American faces La Verne at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 28.
13-year-olds
The only team in district 20 to be given automatic entry to the next round of play, the Section 3 tournament, its first game is at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, July 10 against the TBD District 23 champions at College Park, Claremont.
14 year-olds (1-1)

On Saturday, the 14-year-olds beat Ted Greene, 10-7, at Jaycee Park, 2000 N. San Antonio Ave.,
Pomona, before losing 9-5 to Pomona American on Monday. The team’s next game is a 7 p.m. Tuesday rematch with Ted Greene.
