Javier Ramírez to lecture Friday at Scripps
Javier Ramírez, a spiritual leader and member of the Gabrielino-Shoshone Nation of Southern California Tribal Council, delivers a free and public 4:30 p.m. lecture, “Indigeneity and Intercultural Experiences in the Abya Yala,” Friday, February 16, at Scripps College’s Vita Nova Lecture Hall, 1030 Columbia Ave., Claremont. A reception will follow.
Ramírez has worked around the greater Los Angeles area to publicize indigenous ancestral knowledge, including at Anahuacalmecac International University Preparatory of North America, the only Indigenous community-based kindergarten to 12th grade school in Los Angeles. Ramírez is also the founder of Consejo Ancestral Torogoz and the Kuxkatan Indigenous Collective.
