Ontario Museum of History and Art’s latest exhibit, “For Race and Country: Buffalo Soldiers in California,” which explores the role of Black soldiers in the U.S. Army over history and their impact in California, is up through Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 225 S. Euclid Ave., Ontario.

The Webb Schools announced Monday that 10 seniors were named semifinalists in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program. Six students from Vivian Webb School — Aiperi Bush, Eleanor Hong, Emily Li, Zongying Li, Mirabel Raphael and Jiaqi Wang — as well as four from Webb School of California — Connor Keeney, Xiaojun Pan, Hanming Zeng and Zhehao Zhang — were among those listed.

Los Angeles County residents needing to dispose of household hazardous and electronic waste are invited to a 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. collection event Saturday, September 23, at 2118 N. Claremont High School’s award-winning choir kicks off its 2023-2024 season at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 11 with “Choir’s Gone Country” at CHS, 1601 N. Earlier this month Gentry Brothers, Inc., began the first phase of construction for the City of Claremont’s Towne Avenue Complete Streets Improvement Project. The first phase of construction consists of concrete removal and replacement from the road as well as any adjacent drive approaches, sidewalks, and ADA ramps along the Towne Avenue corridor from Foothill Boulevard to the 210 Freeway. This phase of work is expected to conclude after five weeks, the city stated in a September 7 post. During this phase, passersby should note pedestrian detours, vehicular traffic control signage, and “no parking” warnings. More details are at ci.claremont.ca.us.

Registration is open for Claremont Youth Basketball’s 2023-2024 season at claremontyouthbasketball.com, click “registration” from the drop-down menu. The season begins Sunday, December 3, and will run through March 2024. Games are held on Sundays at El Roble Intermediate School, 665 N. Mountain Ave., and Claremont High School, 1601 N. Indian Hill Blvd. A player evaluation day is set for mid-October at El Roble and practice begins in November. Dates and times will be verified later.

City of Hope hosts a blood donation drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, October 1 at Cahuilla Park, 1717 N. Indian Hill Blvd., Claremont. Appointments are required. The Claremont Symphony Orchestra is seeking members to fill out its violin 1, violin 2, viola, cello, and string bass sections ahead of its free and open to the public season opener Sunday, October 15 at Bridges Hall of Music, 150 E. Fourth St., Claremont. The orchestra will perform the music of Beethoven and Dvorak under principal CSO conductor Robert Sage.

Inland Pacific Ballet kicks off its 29th season with the annual fall dance fest fundraiser with IPB II Studio Company and IPB Academy apprentices and trainees performing excerpts from Joseph Mazilier’s “Paquita” and neoclassical works by Emily Baker. Musical guests include John LaLonde, Debbie Prutsman, Jonathan Sharp, and Allen Everman.

The 11th annual Haynes Family multi-chamber mixer, a free and open to the public chamber of commerce networking event featuring representatives from Claremont, Covina, Glendora, Irwindale, San Dimas, La Verne, Pomona, and Upland, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 20 at 233 Baseline Rd., La Verne. Live music will be provided by Ron Haire and The Silly Rabbit Band.

The second Universal Peace Conference, a free and annual summit hosted by Universal Peace Connection, takes place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, September 15 over Zoom and in-person at Claremont Graduate University’s Drucker School of Management, 1021 N. Dartmouth Ave.
