The Claremont Police Department recently received a $115,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to support enforcement and education efforts.

Be Rosie Salon, 849 W. Foothill Blvd., Claremont, hosts its annual haircut fundraiser haircut-a-thon, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, September 10 in support of Claremont Educational Foundation. Tickets, $45, are available at supportcef.com/events and eventbrite.com, search “haircut fundraiser.”

The Kiwanis Club of Claremont’s annual Route 66 party, featuring a buffet dinner, live music by Acoustical Mystery Tour, a casino, bingo and a silent auction, takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, September 22 at the DoubleTree by Hilton, 555 W. Foothill Blvd., Claremont.

Claremont Chorale hosts a meet and greet reception from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Monday, August 28 at Claremont Community School of Music, 951 W. Foothill Blvd. Guests interested in joining will meet artistic director Alan Wellman and interact with current chorale members.

AgingNext, in partnership with LifeStream, holds a blood drive from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, September 11, at 141 Spring St., Claremont. The drive is in conjunction with the day’s volunteer fair, featuring other local nonprofits and a lunch courtesy of the Kiwanis Club of Claremont.

Pomona Valley Audubon Society led bird walks through California Botanic Garden resume Sunday, September 3, and will continue on the first Sunday of each month.
