Creative, collaborative and committed — these are a few words that can be used to describe Citrus College in its efforts to support students in a remote learning environment.

It was a special Friday night for Claremont High School senior August Waggener, who at halftime of the CHS homecoming game was crowned homecoming queen.

It was a homecoming night to remember for the Claremont High School varsity football team, who utterly dominated the Chaffey High School Tigers, running out 37-0 final on Friday. It seems almost cut and dry to say both the offense and defense did their job, but that’s exactly what happened.

When P.J. Walker was in second grade he wanted to take classes in hip hop style dancing taught at Village Dance Arts in Claremont. Always seeking to encourage her child’s interests, Grace Kao was more than happy to accommodate, but with a slight caveat. She noticed that any boy who signed up for ballet lessons could take the other classes for free, so P.J. enrolled in both.

On Thursday, the Claremont High School girls tennis team added a fifth consecutive title to their history after they defeated Glendora High School at home, 16-2. The match not only closed out Palomares league play, but also extended the team’s unbeaten run to 12 matches.

The CHS girls varsity tennis team continues its dominance in the Palomares League with an impressive 15-3 win over the Alta Loma Braves on Tuesday, Followed by an equally commanding victory over Glendora, 16-2, on Thursday.

A once strong partnership turned bitter over the purchase price of School of Theology property. On June 5, 1957, The Claremont Colleges signed off on a real estate transaction with the Southern California School of Theology (soon to be known as the Claremont School of Theology) to sell 16.4 acres of its Village-adjacent land for $107,500. Both parties coexisted happily for nearly 60 years, but in 2015, the relationship hit the rocks, hard.

Pitzer College announced in August that Don Gould had been elected chair of the school’s board of trustees.
