A free and public opening reception for Pitzer College Art Galleries’ “Atomic Dragons,” a group showcase featuring activists with Slow War Against the Nuclear State, takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, February 7 at Broad Center’s Nichols Gallery, 1060 N. Mills Ave.

Claremont resident Raul Rodriguez is the city’s 2023 honored citizen and will be celebrated as he makes his way through the Fourth of July parade route, which begins at Memorial Park at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

My name is Thelma Banks. I’m originally from England, having arrived in the U.S. in 1954. Sixty years ago I met a small group of gals from England and Scotland in Claremont. We all had small children and we became friends. We decided to form a British women’s group meeting once a month for tea. Each member took a month to serve as hostess. We called ourselves the Tea Aholics. 

Last year Claremont voters agreed to tax commercial cannabis, and now the city wants to know if its citizens actually want marijuana businesses to set up shop in town.

Amelie owner and Claremont Village Marketing Group VP Brian Ofstedahl will show and sell some of the rarest, most valuable pieces in his vast, 40-plus years in the making movie poster collection at the Laemmle Claremont 5 Theatre as part of July’s Claremont Art Walk.
