At 2 a.m. Claremont Police Department officers responded to the 1000 block of North Towne Avenue regarding a car that had collided with a utility pole.
Friday, December 2: At 7:30 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance call from a home on Mountain Avenue north of Base Line Road. Upon arrival they located a female suspect in the home’s driveway and detained her in the back of a patrol car. They also found a victim who had visible lacerations on the back of both hands. The suspect allegedly used a metal alarm company sign to hit the victim multiple times and also punched the victim in the face. The suspect also reportedly broke a window in the home’s front door. While in the patrol car, the suspect allegedly began banging her head on the car window. When an officer opened the door in an attempt to calm her down, the suspect reportedly spat in the officer’s face.
The Claremont Police Department was recently awarded some $94,000 in state and federal grant funds to be used for deterring unsafe driving behaviors. At 10:12 a.m. the Claremont Police Department received multiple 911 calls about a suspected sex worker standing on the corner of Arrow Highway and Indian Hill Boulevard waving at cars and possibly engaging in solicitation for prostitution.
Tuesday, November 15: At 10:19 p.m. Claremont Police Department officers responded to Bert and Rocky’s Ice Cream Company at 242 Yale Ave. on a vandalism call. A witness said he saw a 41-year-old unhoused Claremont man throw a brick at the front window of the business, which did not break the glass but left a large scratch.
The Claremont Police Department responded at 1:19 a.m. to Base Line Road and Kemper Avenue regarding a solo vehicle collision in the area.
Wednesday, October 26: At 4 p.m. the Claremont Police Department received a call about a burglary in progress in the parking lot at Claremont City Hall, 207 Harvard Ave. A female victim was backing her car out of parking space when police say a woman tried to distract her by saying over and over “look at your car.” Allegedly that is when a second suspect reached into the car and stole $200 in cash and a checkbook from the victim’s purse. The woman was unable to identify either suspect.

At about 7 a.m. the Claremont Police Department received a call about a suspicious transient in the Claremont Village.
Thursday, October 13: At 10:43 a.m. Claremont police received a call from West Covina police who said they had Upland resident Kayn Cox-Whittle, 22, in custody, and he had a felony no-bail warrant in Claremont. In August 2020, Cox-Whittle was reportedly involved in road rage incident during which he is accused of brandishing a handgun near Indian Hill and Foothill boulevards. The victims were two off-duty police officers from a department other than CPD. Claremont police conducted a felony traffic stop on Cox-Whittle and during a search allegedly discovered the firearm, as well as methamphetamine and a pipe. He was arrested for assault with deadly weapon, criminal threats, possession of controlled substance while in possession of a firearm and carrying an unregistered and loaded firearm, all felonies.
The Claremont Police Department has asked residents to be aware of a new telephone scam. “Today, the Claremont Police Department received reports of a caller identifying himself as Tony Garcia from Southern California Edison,” read a CPD press release. “The caller was calling to arrange an $800 cash bill payment for the return of utility service. The caller attempted to make payment arrangements in person. Please be advised that Southern California Edison and other utilities will never demand cash for billing payments.”
Monday, October 3: At 12:39 p.m. the Claremont Police Department received numerous calls about a man in the 2400 block of Bonnie Brae Avenue who was exposing himself. Officers responded a short time later and two witnesses pointed out the suspect. When police contacted the 36-year-old unhoused man, he reportedly said he was urinating. Video surveillance obtained by the police allegedly showed the subject exposing himself. A search allegedly revealed he was in possession of methamphetamine and a glass pipe. He was arrested for indecent exposure, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors. He was transported to CPD jail where he was booked and later released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Sunday, September 25: At 12:20 a.m. officers on patrol in the area of Claremont Boulevard and Sixth Street allegedly saw a white Hyundai Elantra traveling at high rate of speed. The radar in the patrol car reportedly displayed the vehicle’s speed as 59 mph in a 40 mph zone. Officers say the driver then ran the stop sign at First Street and Columbia Avenue, after which police conducted a traffic stop. Police say the driver, Fontana resident Ryan Heo, 20, was emotional and upset over an argument with his wife. He allegedly told officers he had a gun in the car.
Tuesday, September 20: A woman called the Claremont Police Department to report she had parked her car in the driveway of her residence in the 400 block of Harrison Avenue on Monday at 8 p.m., but when she woke Tuesday at 4 a.m. it was missing. The victim also said her purse was missing. According to police, the victim said she believed the person who took the items was her daughter, later identified as Huntington Beach resident Blare Relf, 30. The victim said Relf had been living with her in Claremont for the last two months. On Wednesday at 11:33 p.m., Relf allegedly returned the vehicle to her mother’s driveway and the victim called police. Officers contacted Relf and arrested her for felony grand theft auto and petty theft for the purse, which was not recovered. Relf was transported to the Claremont jail, booked, and released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.
Claremont Police Department officers conducting an area check at 1:18 p.m. near Patty’s Mexican Restaurant, 1332 N. Towne Ave., found a man lying down in the parking lot, and stopped to check on his welfare.
Claremont Police Department officers responded to Cahuilla Park, 1717 N. Indian Hill Blvd., at 7:25 p.m. after several people called 911 to report a man in his 20s acting suspiciously who appeared to be holding a knife. Officers located the suspect, San Dimas resident Christopher Ramirez, 27.
